Well, I think we have reviewed Chapter 2 enough and are ready for the big test on Friday.  Vocabulary is being stressed, as is being able to explain the water cycle and the parts of the earth.  Besides studying for the test my third period class needs to complete their poster project.  They know who they are.

We had a fantastic turn out last night for Curriculum Night.  I enjoyed meeting all of you.  I am glad to see that my students have such involved parents.  It makes our jobs so much easier.

Next week we will finish Ch. 2, ending the week with a test.  As I mentioned before, there are 45 vocabulary words in this chapter.  We have been playing card games to help us remember the terms.  Some of the classes were able to play a form of concentration.  I believe it helps.  We will have a review on Thursday to prep them for the test but if you can go over the chapter with them, it will improve their chances of passing.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Keep cool!!!!

I am looking forward to meeting all of our parents tonight at Curriculum Night.

We had Chapter 1 test on Wed.  The majority of the students did well!!

We started Chapter 2 Planet Earth today.  There are quite a few vocabulary words in this short chapter.  Please do not think you have to have them all done by tomorrow.  We have all of next week.

We have begun Chapter 1 A Geographer’s World.  Together we discussed how perspective is a major element in the study of geography.  There are 5 vocabulary words on page 3 that should be in their notebooks and defined.  We also have finished giving oral reports on current events. I gave the students blank maps today to assess their knowledge of countries, water features, cities, anything they could label.  I will use this to compare to a map they will fill in at the end of the year.  It should be interesting.

Well, we all made it through our first day of school! I truly enjoyed meeting every single one of you. I can tell already, that this is going to be a great year.

Remember to bring in the forms that needed to be signed by your parents and to bring in two forms of proof of residency. Even if you went to Schilling last year and/or you preregistered, I need to see those proofs.

See you tomorrow.
