For most of the week we had been doing research on types of governments and the five major religions of the world. The students worked very hard, at school and at home. On Friday they presented their projects to their class. I was very impressed by their ability to get up in front of the class and explain their chosen topic and answer questions posed by the students. There were posters, charts, overhead projector being used and several who were able to just get up and relay to us the information they had learned during their research. Job well done by all!!!!!

This coming week we will be finishing Ch. 5. On Friday we will have our test. Please refer to the weekly agenda posted on Mrs. Dorris’ blog. She posts all of the team’s weekly agendas. You should also check your child’s agenda book. On Monday they are all to copy the week’s agenda in their agenda books.

On Thursday we will review Ch.5. We will also be studying the geography of Tennessee.

Have a great weekend.

Thank you for coming to Open House last night. It was wonderful to meet each and every one of you. Everybody was so positive. I am very impressed by the huge involvement of the parents at Schilling Farms. Our students are so fortunate.

Next week we will be starting Chapter 5, The World’s People. We will learn about the human element of geography in this chapter.

  • Section 1: Culture Vocab. on pg.75
  • Read and discuss pgs.74-80
  • Culture, History, Environment chart- group activity
  • Writing assignment- How does culture influence what we do throughout the day. Speculate about how someone in another culture might perform that action.

OPEN HOUSE ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER, 20

We invite you to come see all the excellent work your children have accomplished so far this year. They have been working very hard, and it shows. The 400 Hallway is decorated from floor to ceiling with everything from book reports to maps. It is pretty impressive. There is also a dinner for the teachers, a PTSA Meeting, and a very good Book Fair in the library. The 7A Team is looking forward to seeing you there.

Tomorrow in class we will be reviewing Ch. 4. Our test is Friday.

We started Sec.2 Climate today.  Some students need to finish their vocabulary words.  I would like for everyone to read pgs. 44-50.  Tomorrow’s activity will depend on this information, so be familiar with the climate types.

I hope you were able to access Power School last night.  If there are any problems please let me or the office know.  A few students had problems with their attendance.  Some had  20  absences!!!  Don’t worry.  All the kinks will be eventually worked out.

Today we finished up Sec.1 in Ch.3.  Students drew a wind systems map.  If they did not finish in school, it was for homework.  There are also 10 questions that should be turned in tomorrow.
