Social Studies

  • World’s 10 Most Populous Countries
  • Ch. 18 Test- Monday
  • For the rest of the time up to TCAPs we will be studying Tennessee (which is included in the state test)
  • The class will be creating a Tennessee Book
  • The book will have maps, vocabulary, historical and governmental facts, trivia, and short bios of famous Tennesseans
  • We will have a class test on the above information April 9th, Thursday

Standard Language Arts

  • DOL- Critical Rdg. Passage Completion and Analogies
  • Spelling-list given in class
  • Spelling and definition Test Friday
  • Caught Ya Grammar-#52-56-homophones, use of commas, appositives, use of strong verbs, verb tense agreement and proper nouns)
  • Review of prepositional phrases (adjectives and adverbs), test Tuesday
  • Recognizing Appositive phrases
  • Read “The Only Girl in the World for Me” discuss theme
  • Begin cinquains
  • Cause/effect essay using week’s vocab.
  • Compare/contrast essay
  • Grammar Bingo

APEX Language Arts

  • DOL-Analogies Week of 24 #116-120
  • Giggles in the Middle-Editing 52-56 due Friday
  • Vocab. from above-spelling/definition test Friday
  • Review prepositional phrases as adjectives/adverbs, test Tuesday
  • Recognizing Appositives phrases, participles, infinitives and infinitive phrases
  • Literature-Read “Home”- analyze theme, compare/contrast story to a poem
  • “Mongoose on the Loose”-analyze text that show cause/effect relationships
  • Practice vocab. skills, writing skills, point of view, author’s argument, purpose and perspective
  • Word Within the Word List 4 2nd 10 stems- test Friday
  • Essay compare/contrast using WWW vocab.
